About DEES House
The idea of working with pre-K children began when co-founders Mrs. Levolyre Pitt and YoLanda Davis discovered that programs for their grandchildren were either limited or unavailable. Mrs. Pitt, along with her sorority sister and fellow retired educator Margaret Britt, was invited to partner with another children’s program. Although both were excited about the opportunity, the proposal ultimately fell through.
However, the spirit and determination of these two Delta House sisters was not diminished. Out of their shared vision, Dee’s House was born—guided by the wisdom and experience of Mrs. Pitt and Mrs. Britt, and strengthened by YoLanda Davis’s passion for community success. Together, they laid the foundation for a program dedicated to serving children and families with excellence, care, and purpose.

The Legacy Behind Dee’s House
Dee’s House was born from a mother’s love and a son whose heart knew no bounds. Derrick Davis, YoLanda’s son, became, by the age of 26, a mentor, brother, and friend to countless children and families. He lifted others with his love, inspired through his kindness, and left behind a legacy of laughter, smiles, and unwavering friendship.
Derrick’s reach was extraordinary—touching communities near and far, leaving an imprint on every life he encountered. He poured his spirit into his own children, Derrick III and DeMaya, teaching them the power of love, mentorship, and faith.
Though Derrick was called home on December 25, 2007, his energy and influence live on. Dee’s House continues his mission—spreading hope, nurturing hearts, and opening doors of opportunity to children and families everywhere.
